Final Project

word count : 406
The story I will be telling is the life of being a full-time student vs managing being a big sister. Trying to balance both can be difficult at times. Being a big sister is fun, but it is also a great responsibility. Even when you don’t realize it, your younger siblings are looking to you for guidance. You might even find that they mimic your behavior. Though it might be a lot of pressure, you can use your role to have a positive impact on your siblings’ lives. Be a good big sister to them by building a strong bond, being a positive role model, and being kind to them.

While in college a student can easily become overwhelmed by a schedule that is busier than he or she is accustomed to. Trying to juggle one's studies and social life can quickly become overwhelming and may eventually threaten one's grades and educational goals. This is further exacerbated by other bad habits that consume one's time, such as procrastination, for example. Unfortunately, it isn't always easy to cut back on the number of activities that make up a student's schedule. To create a balance between study and social interaction, students must learn and implement valuable time management skills
- doing an interview with my siblings and mother
- create a mini video of my college life
- show pictures of me interacting with my siblings
-  words expressions
-characters and captivating events sprinkled throughout the story to ensure the audiences sustained interest.
My goal is to make sure that each scene leaves audiences wanting more and at any given moment the audience should know what's going on.
Some questions I was thinking about asking my siblings:
1. What are you most proud of them for
2. If you’re the younger sibling, do(es) your older sibling(s) feel like they need to be guiding you every step of the way, or do you they take a more hands-off approach?
3.  What kind of music do you both like to listen to (because it’s what your parents also listened to)?
4. If you guys could take a sibling trip, no parents or other relatives or significant others, where would you go?

Questions for my mother :
1. Do you think is a good big sister?  And do I play that role?
2. How well do you think I balance my social life and school?

I couldn't write 750 words because I'm still brain streaming on my project

Authors Response

Blog Assignment 6
Word Count: 522

Both of the authors were very interesting.  Daisy Johnson was born on Halloween which interesting to me.  She currently lives in Oxford.  Daisy Johnson combines English folklore and a contemporary eye, sexual honesty and combustible invention to create a reading experience like no other. Doing the video skype she read her work aloud to us and her words were just flowing. One aspect of the time with Daisy I really enjoyed was when she explained her writing technique a lot of authors wouldn’t have told us their techniques. I’m thinking I should start doing some of the techniques to help me with my writing when I’m stressing about what I'd write about. Daisy referenced another author, Stephen King, and said she followed similar exercises he does as well. She told us how King will write a character, and write what he wants to happen to a character first before he comes up with a storyline. Daisy also follows this pattern which allows her to know where her stories are going to end. Daisy also mentioned how she gets comments on her unique sentence structure but said this is most likely because of her dyslexia. After talking with her, we spoke with Rebecca Schiff. Rebecca Schiff graduated from Columbia Universities with an MFA program, where she received a hen field Prize. Her stories have appeared in n+1, Electric Literature, The American Reader, Guernica, The Guardian, and Lenny Letter. She lives in Brooklyn. She was very true and very erratic, and I enjoyed that because it was different. She spoke about things most people are uncomfortable speaking about and turned it into fiction. She read us a short story about a woman who slept with multiple men, but never felt comfortable in her own body, and also never found "the one". I was wondering why she wrote this piece. Was it a personal experience or was she just connecting it to the everyday world? Rebecca was more open than daisy she showed us her new apartment maybe because we had more skype time with her.  Rebecca always mentioned things going the wrong m when writing about sex, are good.  I feel like she was saying everybody has a lesson learned from a situation they been through.
Daisy writing assignment
I have come back and it was just the way I remember…  I remember going to school down south for my freshmen year in college and when I came back on my breaks, my friends were still doing the same thing from when I first left for school.  I believe in change; I think it comes to a point in life where you should want more in life for yourself.  It’s more than being outside 24/7 and joking around with your friends. The older you get the more responsible you should be. Sometimes I think I have this mindset because I watch my grandmother and mother struggle to take care of me and my siblings and I want more for my family and they're doing an amazing job. I know some things come slower than others but you should always want the best for yourself.

Blog Assignment 5

Podcast 5/6
Word Count : 370

After listening to all the podcast over from episode, I think they finally revealed the secret.  the plot leading up to 5 and 6 made it seem as if the cafeteria food was key to the storyline. They made it seem extremely important by continuously highlighting how high-priority it was for Walter to eat there. When they verbally confirmed the food was medicated I was surprised because I wasn’t expecting that but it made the story more interesting. Heidi went to the dining hall with Walter, in some ways it makes sense as to why Heidi forgot certain things as why she moved back in with her mom, Collin and her previous jobs she had. I’m also surprised she did this because it seemed in episode 6, she did these things on purpose. The reason why I replied that because when Collin question her actions, she was never harassed at the idea that the food contained medication. She had to know this prior to eating the food or I think she would have reacted differently than what she did.

The first season ended very well. It made you want to listen more to what was going on. It ended at a point of surprise that the listener would have never thought what happens.  After listening to all the episodes, I want to continue to listen to the second season. Do I want to see where the story goes, like where is Walter, how did they really "lose" Walter? Heidi really forgot about her life I don't know how much food did she eat? I noticed there is a new voice in the storyline I really want to know how she is? Does she hold an important place in this storyline? Now, I am aware of the meaning of reorganizing Walter but I’m still curious of why this changed after him eating the medication food. I feel as if he would have just forgotten it anyway so there was no difference as to if they still decided to reorganize him again. I’m happy you choose this podcast for us to listen too I really enjoyed it. I’m ready for season two to learn more about homecoming.

Wilson Shek And Terranni Hicks Podcast Script

Fade In:
Setting: Dorney Park Amusement Park - Philadelphia PA- Friday Afternoon Summer
Linus and Lucy both brother and sisters are waiting in yet another long rollercoaster line during a hot summer day. Linus is 15 years old and Lucy is 13 years old. They both attend high school in the Bronx.  Both of them decide to go to another amusement park skipping school as a much needed day off. With the heat of the summer sun bearing down on them Lucy begins to think that waiting in line isn’t worth the hassle after all even if they’re almost the front of the line.

Sound: Roller coaster moving in background with people screaming
Lucy: Linus I think we should we go we’ve been waiting here forever.
Linus: What? Why? Were almost at the front of the line not even five minutes left.
Lucy: It’s too hot right now I feel absolutely disgusting and soaked plus I don’t even feel
like riding on Steel Force it looks stupid.
Linus: It's the middle of July, obviously it's going to be very hot right now, we’ve been
waiting in this line for almost an hour why should we leave now when we're about to go
on? Steel force is probably one of the only roller coasters that are worth going on in this
stupid park.
Lucy: Listen Linus I just don’t want to go on the dam roller coaster, let’s just go back into the park and fine somewhere to cool off.
Sound: People Talking
Linus: What’s your problem Lucy? Are you afraid or something? Stop acting like    a baby and just ride the roller coaster, why does this have to be so complicated?
Lucy: Why do you have to talk to me like that? I’m ten years old not a baby, I'm not afraid at all I just don't want to ride it right now, why can’t you just understand that huh?
Lucy: You always have to talk down to me like I’m nothing every time we go anywhere
You have to turn something fun into an uncomfortable time and ruin it for everyone
Lucy: When mom and dad took us to parks like these they would let us do what we
wanted to do, not boss around
Sound: Summer Day
Linus: Stop trying to waste my time you always do this, every time we're waiting in line
You always want to leave at the worst possible moment just because you don’t feel like it
I'm trying to talk some sense in you, I already had to pay $40 for the each of us and your
not wanting to go on any of the rides really doesn't help that case.
Linus: Mom and dad hated taking you out because you would never want to do anything
you would rather just stand around until it was over, wasting both their time and money.
Linus: I’m your older brother you should be listening to me anyway, I don’t know why    you have to argue with me right now the line is moving and we're almost there we're going to ride Steel Force whether you like it or not.
Lucy: How bout I just leave then, what are you going to do to stop me? It not like you
care anyway.
Linus: Where are you going to go? Home? I drove you here so as far as I’m concerned you're stuck.
Sound: Even louder roller coaster sound effect
Lucy: You better be lucky you drove me this far, you know I don’t have any way home
Linus: JUST SHUT UP AND LET’S JUST HAVE FUN !
Lucy: Silence……………...
Lucy: I’m sorry Linus
Linus: Sighs
Linus: Listen Lucy I don't like to yell like that, you and me both know that we only have each other. I don't want you to walk away because I’m afraid I might never see you again.
Lucy: You're right! I’m sorry for being such a brat.  I love you Linus… I’m ready to have fun
Music: Heartfelt
Linus: I’m having second thoughts about this ride though, I’m feeling very nervous of all sudden
Lucy : Really Linus after all that now you're going to be scared?
Both Linus and Lucy reach the front of the line and proceed onto the front car of the roller coaster, Linus is visibly shaken.
Lucy: There's no turning back now we're already here
Sound: Clicking of the bar
Sound: Rising tension tone
Linus: Why is this going so slow I thought this was supposed to be quick
Lucy: Linus you know what rollercoasters are like, are you for real right now?
Linus: You’re right I'm acting like an idiot.
Lucy: Here we go!!!!!!!!!

Blog Assignment 4

Homecoming Feedback
Word Count :363
2. )The writers did keep me hooked from episode to episode was a pivotal moment, and an unusual situation, and an intriguing character, and conflict, and an antagonist, change emotion, irony, and surprise, make people wonder, dread factor and keep narrative voice compelling. Episode 2, had several locations such as Belfast is in Dubai and palm trees are in Florida. serval  A wheelchair is in the bathroom. The Titanic rises. Episode 3, Heidi and Colin took a road trip. Walter asks for an explanation in episode 4.

5. )The characters remain consistent they never break out of character. from listening to first 4 episodes I knew actually who was talking. they never break out of character which is called inside acting. Walter Cruz (Oscar Isaac), therapist Heidi Bergman (Catherine Keener) and her overbearing boss Colin Belfast (David Schwimmer). The battle over the true nature of the advantage and whether their inner experiments are doing more harm than good.Their roles so far are Heidi is the employee, Colin is the boss, Walter was the patient. A lot of the tension and the drama are coming from specific interactions and ways in which power is exercised. It seems like they were doing is really focusing on the characters; letting the scenes and the conversation creates the action instead of describing the action. Some characters that didn't change from episode 2 through 4 are Heidi and Walter.

3. )Sound effects surprised me was rather than standing huddled around a microphone. Soft sound effects, such as a fish tank bubbling away in the background, and not-so-subtle ones like the noise of a busy airport, make it's more than akin to a lavish TV production than a staged radio drama. As the narrative flips back and forth from Heidi’s time as a caseworker to five years later, when she’s waitress, mystery surrounds what brought her there. it was different to me I wasn't expecting the sound effects. The sound effects actually make the podcast little more interesting. It makes you want to listen to next podcast to see what's going to happen next. Even the characters on how they don't tell too much information at one time.
